Handcrafted in Jakarta since 2017
Tanah is a ceramic molding studio where earth becomes art. Learn traditional hand-building and wheel-throwing in a calm space designed for makers of every level.
What we offer
From first-time pinch pots to advanced glaze chemistry — we offer structured programs and open studio sessions for every stage.
Master the spinning wheel. Shape bowls, mugs, and vases with your hands in small-batch classes of six.
Coil, slab, and pinch your way to functional pottery — no wheel needed. Great for beginners.
Learn the alchemy of fire and glaze. Understand how heat transforms raw clay into lasting ceramics.
Come in, work at your own pace. Studio access includes kiln firings for members.
How it works
Every piece you make follows the same ancient rhythm — here's what the journey looks like.
Pick from stoneware, earthenware, or porcelain — each with different textures and firing ranges.
Build your piece by hand or on the wheel under guidance from our resident ceramicists.
Your greenware dries slowly, then enters the kiln for its first firing to harden the form.
Apply your chosen glaze, then a second firing fuses it into a finished, food-safe ceramic.
Student & studio work
I came in knowing nothing about clay. Three months later I have a full set of handmade dinnerware and a habit I never want to break.Rania S. — Tanah student, 2024
